Insurance for DDPU members
The DDPU has partnered with MFL to provide insurance services to its members.
As part of your membership you receive insurance protection in respect of Good Samaritan Acts and in respect of Fee Paying Work within the UK (previously known as Category 2 Work) whilst employed by the NHS.
In addition, we have negotiated competitive rates for certain DDPU members in respect of Medical Malpractice Insurance in relation to private work.
You can obtain quotations on line in relation to the disciplines listed below. More disciplines will be added in the future.
This insurance is provided on a ‘claims made’ basis. This means that cover applies in respect of claims made against you during the period of insurance for private work carried out on or after the inception date of the policy.
No cover is therefore provided for past work under this insurance, although retrospective protection may already be in force for such work through your previous insurance arrangements, if they were issued on a ‘losses occurring’ basis. This is the case, for example, with policies issued by MPS. If you have any doubt about the scope of past cover and you need cover for past work, please contact us as we would need to advise you on your specific demands and needs.
The DDPU is an Appointed Representative of MFL Insurance Group Ltd, who is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
