Kevin McParland ACII (Chair)

Managing Director of McParland Finn Ltd

Kevin is a specialist Professional Indemnity Insurance Broker advising professionals and firms throughout the UK. With over 30 years experience in the insurance sector, he heads up the Solicitors’ PII Team in Manchester. MFL are the preferred partners of commercial insurance advice to Manchester Law Society members

Brian Rogers FCMI

Chairman of the Regulatory Affairs Committee at Manchester Law Society, Partner (non-lawyer) at Lewis Hymanson Small LLP

Brian has been a senior executive within the legal profession for 20 years and an integral part of Lewis Hymanson Small’s regulatory and serious crime department. A prolific speaker, he has presented for a number of law societies, training organisations (CLT & MBL) and professional groups around the country on a wide range of subjects. A Council member of Manchester Law Society and Chairman of the Regulatory Affairs Committee.

Jenny Screech

Legal Professions Manager, Zurich

Qualified as a barrister and solicitor in New Zealand, Jenny has worked in private practice for 14 years undertaking a range of litigation work in the country. Now, she is the Legal Professions Manager within the Zurich Professional and Financial team heading up underwriting for solicitor firms. Her overall experience in private practice, claims and underwriting means she has a significant breadth and depth of knowledge regarding the issues that impact on the profession.

Mark Carver

Head of PI and Crime division, Aviva

Mark joined Aviva Corporate & Speciality in March 2011 as Head of Professional Indemnity and is responsible for Aviva’s Professional Indemnity Portfolio including accountants, architects, construction, engineers, new media, solicitors, surveyors and technology business. Mark has previously held several senior management positions at a major insurer and is considered a specialist in solicitors’ professional indemnity. Mark holds a BA (Hons) from the University of Leicester and is also an ACII.

Steve Carter

Head of Professional Practice Group Northern Region at Baker Tilly, Chartered Accountants Committee member of the Solicitors’ Special Interest Group of the ICAEW

Steve is the head of Baker Tilly’s Professional Practices Group for the northern region. He has specialised in advising professional practices for over 20 years, emphasising on solicitors. Steve is a regular lecturer for the Law Society on finance and practice management issues and a committee member of the ICAEW Solicitors Special Interest Group.
